New Skilled Occupations List - Further Information

As advised yesterday, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship have announced a new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) for General Skilled Migration applications.  The new SOL is proposed to commence on 1 July 2010.

A copy of the new SOL list can be found here

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship also suspended the acceptance of General Skilled Migration visa applications for visa subclasses 175 (Skilled Independent Migrant), 176 (Skilled Sponsored Migrant) and 475 (Skilled Regional Sponsored Provisional) on 8 May 2010. This suspension is expected to remain in effect until 30 June 2010.

If you have an occupation that is not included on the new Skilled Occupation List, you will no longer be eligible to lodge a skilled stream application and you will need to look for other visa options that may suit your particular situation.

Other pathways may include employer or family sponsorship.  InterStaff is able to advise you of the most suitable pathway for your situation, in this regard please contact your InterStaff consultant.
