and prior to that being a New Zealand citizen had lived in NZ. I completed my school education, and started employment, and eventually purchased my first house in Perth.

 My employment led me in 1995 to travel to our subsidiary companies in Asia, which increased over time, as we were manufacturing and exporting our products from these companies. I worked full time in Asia from 1995 to 2001, but travelled twice a year back home in Perth.

 Upon my contract finishing, and wanting to return to Perth, and continue to work and live, where all my direct family have lived since 1980, I found myself in a very unique position being a New Zealand citizen, with my wife being an Indonesian citizen having difficulties meeting the criteria to qualify for permanent residency as government policies and regulations had changed. Even with my daughter being born in Perth in 2006, did not help my cause.

 Over the next four years I sourced assistance from various organisations, even went back to school to increase my qualifications, upon this being completed found the government policies & criteria had changed again, much to the frustration and bewilderment of us all. Very stressful considering I had lived, worked, paid taxes, never had social security, the company I was employed by was a public listed company on Australian stock exchange, thus all funds returned to Australia for our exports to Europe, and most importantly all my family resided in Australia.
